Course title: BLS and Anaphylaxis Workshop BL2024
Course type: E-Learning
Accreditation: 1 CPD Hour (cpduk)
This comprehensive training covers the fundamentals of basic life support (BLS), including CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator), and managing airway obstructions in adults, children, and infants. Additionally, it delves into the recognition and immediate management of anaphylaxis, a severe allergic reaction that can be fatal if not treated promptly. Anaphylaxis training has become increasingly necessary as there appears to be an increasing prevalence of allergic conditions and sensitivities over the last two or three decades. Anaphylaxis is a severe, life-threatening allergic reaction that is rapid in onset and may cause death if untreated. The most common anaphylactic reactions are to foods, insect stings, medications and latex.
The treatment of anaphylaxis needs a consistent approach which draws together relevant and appropriate expertise as provided by the Resuscitation Council (UK) and NICE clinical Guideline 134 recommendations. This anaphylaxis training explores different types of allergies and how to manage them in urgent care, the community and general practice. Anaphylaxis training can be accessed as a standalone course or as a part of the mandatory training for health and social care course.
This anaphylaxis training is a practical presentation that will update participants’ knowledge of how to identify and manage anaphylaxis in primary care settings.
***Please note amended guidelines for treatment of anaphylaxis due to the covid vaccine.
*This course can be accessed as a stand alone module or part of the Mandatory Training self paced online learning package.
