        What will i learn?

        • Have an understanding of the terminology and anatomy of the upper and lower limb
        • Understand the potential risks when requesting an x-ray.
        • Use principles for assessment of upper and lower limb injuries to be considered when requesting an x-ray such as Ottawa Rules, Pittsburgh rules
        • Be able to clearly state the indications and correctly complete requests for x-rays
        • Be aware of the relevant regulations regarding the exposure of individuals to ionising radiation
        • Develop proficiency in selecting appropriate imaging modalities and protocols based on the type and severity of musculoskeletal injuries.
        • Enhance skills in communicating with patients to explain the rationale behind X-ray requests and address their concerns.
        • Gain knowledge of common musculoskeletal injuries and their associated clinical features and red flags for X-ray requests.

        Requirements

        • Aims This session will develop your skills in triaging an upper or lower limb injury presenting in first contact settings and provide you with the principles for requesting radiological studies.
