Course Schedule

Module 1: Gynaecology -  Abnormal Uterine Bleeding (AUB)

Aim: To provide healthcare professionals with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills to diagnose, evaluate, and manage abnormal uterine bleeding in women of various age groups.

Objectives:

  • Explain the definition, classification, and prevalence of abnormal uterine bleeding.
  • Detail the diagnostic methods including history taking, physical examination, laboratory tests, and imaging studies.
  •  Discuss medical and surgical treatment options, including their indications, effectiveness, and potential complications.
  • Case Studies: Review case studies to illustrate typical presentations and management of AUB.
  •  Highlight the importance of patient education and shared decision-making in the management of AUB.

Module 2 :Contraception

Aim: To update healthcare professionals on the latest contraceptive options and their appropriate use, ensuring informed decision-making and optimal patient outcomes.

Objectives:

  • Review the range of contraceptive methods available, including their mechanisms of action, efficacy, benefits, and risks.
  • Discuss factors influencing contraceptive choice, such as age, medical history, lifestyle, and reproductive goals.
  •  Highlight recent advancements in contraceptive technology and emerging trends in family planning

Module 3 : Menopause

Aim: To equip healthcare providers with the latest knowledge and strategies for managing menopausal symptoms and improving the quality of life for menopausal women.

Objectives:

  • Describe the hormonal changes and physiological processes associated with menopause.
  • Identify common menopausal symptoms and effective treatments, including hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and non-hormonal options.
  • Discuss the impact of menopause on long-term health, including bone health, cardiovascular risk, and mental health.
  •  Provide updates on the latest clinical guidelines and research related to menopause management.

Dr Hayley Jenkins

Dr. Hayley Jenkins is a seasoned medical professional with a profound history in Family Planning and Women's Health. Her journey in this specialised field began during her GP registrar year, where she had the privilege of training under a doctor who specialised in family planning and women's health. During this period, Dr. Jenkins attained her DFSRH (Diploma of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare) and LOC (Letter of Competence) for coils and implants, laying the foundation for her expertise. As a partner in a larger training practice, Dr. Jenkins took the initiative to develop a weekly Family Planning clinic and became a Family Planning trainer, sharing her knowledge with fellow practitioners. Her commitment to advancing skills and knowledge in this domain is reflected in her collaboration with the local sexual health clinic, where she held roles as a Family Planning trainer.Dr. Jenkins, known in Milton Keynes as an expert in her field, went beyond the routine by securing a bid with her practice to establish a community gynae clinic. This venture saw her working alongside a local consultant, elevating her skills and pushing the boundaries of her expertise. Throughout her career, Dr. Jenkins has been driven by three key components: General Practice, Women's Health, and Teaching/Training.
